Allied Health Programs
Sometimes it's easy to overlook the obvious - and Chesapeake College is the obvious choice for Mid-Shore residents seeking educational opportunities in a comprehensive array of Allied Health programs and services. These programs are responseive to the needs of individual learners and to the requirements of the region's workforce. There are currently a variety of degree, certificate and letter of recognition programs in nursing and allied health fields.
The majority of the Allied Health programs are offered through the Chesapeake College Center for Allied Health, located in historic Easton, 219 South Washington Street at Memorial Hospital at Easton. Memorial Hospital - Shore Health System is an integral partner in nursing and allied health education with Chesapeake College. The hospital makes its medical library accessible to Chesapeake students and is a clinical learning facility for most of the programs. The center has three classrooms, featuring state of the art technology, nursing and allied health learning labs, an academic computing lab, a distance learning classroom, faculty and administrative offices. The Chesapeake College Allied Health Center is a full service center with registration and business office functions.
The Physical Therapist Assistant program is sponsored by the Chesapeake Area Consortium for Higher Education (CACHE) which is comprised of the College of Southern Maryland, Chesapeake College, and Anne Arundel Community College. Students complete their general education requirements at Chesapeake College, their professional training at Anne Arundel Community College and their clinical internships in their local service area when possible.
The allied health programs prepare students as independent learners who are intellectually competent, technologically proficient, skilled in the application of learning, and who share the values and common goals of our culture. In addition, our students will be prepared to compete in the global marketplace.
