Phlebotomy Letter of Recognition Program

The Letter of Recognition in Phlebotomy prepares graduates to apply to take the exam given by the American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians for certification as a Phlebotomist. Phlebotomists may work in hospitals, clinics, doctor's offices and other professional settings requiring phlebotomists.

The part-time program includes three courses for a total of nine credits. Class size is limited to 15 students. Priority in the selection process will be given to applicants who are residents of the five county area, have the highest placement scores, and/or have previous experience providing medical patient care.

Fall Semester

ALH 110, Phlebotomy I (5 credits)
A study of circulatory anatomy and lab studies is offered two evenings per week.

Spring Semester

ALH 111, Phlebotomy Practicum (2 credits)
A ninety hour requirement for supervised clinical experience as arranged with the program director.
ALH 112, Phlebotomy II (2 credits)
An introduction to the concepts of human biology is offered one night a week.

Financial Aid
Traditional financial aid is not available for Letter of Recognition programs. However, applicants may qualify for Workforce Investment Board funding.
