Writing Assistance Online

Attention Chesapeake Students!

Have you ever needed help writing a paper
but had no time to come to the Academic Support Center?

WE HAVE A SOLUTION FOR YOU!

** Try out our WRITING ASSISTANCE ONLINE! **

You can send your paper through e-mail to this address:
writingonline@chesapeake.edu
(see instructions below)

While the best way to work on writing is face-to-face, we can still give you useful advice on how to polish your work by way of e-mail.

One of our faculty or student consultants will respond with comments on what works well in your writing and with suggestions for changes.

*Our focus will be on revision of the content of the paper.*

We use MS Word 2000 and to ensure proper translation of your work, please save the document in a format that can be read by MS Word 2000.  The following formats can be read by MS Word 2000:

( *.doc ) Word Document
( *.rtf ) Rich Text Format
( *.txt ) Text Only
We prefer documents in
Rich Text Format (*.rtf).

Currently the Academic Support Center will not be able to receive or respond to documents created using a MAC.  For better readability we prefer that submitted papers be in 12 point New Times Roman font.  Because we may not be able to translate graphics, omit them unless they are vital for understanding the content.

Please check this web page frequently:  An announcement will be posted when we can accept documents done using a MAC.  Thank you for your understanding.

As soon as we receive your paper, we will confirm transmission.  Then we will follow up as quickly as possible with comments.  We will also send your instructor a copy of our consultation form.

To ensure that you have a compatible format, send us a test document in the format described above telling us your name, e-mail address, phone number, and the class you are taking as well as who the instructor is.  Once we acknowledge receipt of the test document, you can begin sending your papers for consultations.

Time and distance don't need to stand in the way of receiving help on writing assignments any longer!!
