'Jacks hosting basketball playoff doubleheader against CSM
Women play at 5 and men at 7 in opening round of respective state tourneys
WYE MILLS Chesapeake College will host a state basketball tournament doubleheader Tuesday night, with the Skipjack women playing at 5 p.m. against the College of Southern Maryland and the men taking on CSM in the 7 p.m. nightcap.
Chesapeake’s men’s team, seeded second in the Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference state tournament, will be playing a 15th-seeded CSM team they defeated, 111-82, earlier this month. The seventh-seeded Skipjack women, meanwhile, notched an 84-69 victory over 10th-seeded CSM in their regular-season match-up.
The winner of the Chesapeake-CSM women’s contest advances to Friday’s 2:30 p.m. quarterfinal at Anne Arundel Community College against second-seeded Allegany College of Maryland. Saturday’s semifinals and Sunday’s championship game are also at Anne Arundel CC.
The winner of the Chesapeake-CSM men’s contest advances to Friday’s 5 p.m. quarterfinal at Frederick Community College against the winner of Tuesday’s first-round game between seventh-seeded Garrett College and 10th-seed Montgomery College/Rockville. Saturday’s semifinals and Sunday’s championship game are also at Frederick CC.
Admission to Tuesday night’s playoff doubleheader at Chesapeake College is free.
