With rain gone, Skipjack baseball team plays on
Region XX tournament resumes today with Chesapeake completing game with Monroe
ARNOLD The rain-plagued NJCAA Division I Region XX baseball tournament will resume today at 1 p.m. with fourth-seeded Chesapeake College completing its losers’ bracket contest with third-seeded Monroe (NY) College. The game will take place at Anne Arundel Community College.
Monroe led the game, 2-0 in the second inning, when it was halted Sunday due to rain. The winner plays Wednesday against the loser of Tuesday’s 4 p.m. game between top-seeded Potomac State College of West Virginia University and second-seeded Hagerstown Community College. PSC and Hagerstown defeated Chesapeake and Monroe, respectively, Sunday to reach the winners’ bracket finals.
The tournament began at Joe Cannon Stadium in Hanover, but the decision was made to move the tournament to Anne Arundel Community College because the AACC field could more easily be readied for play after four days of rain.
The Region XX champion will host the Region X champ in a best-of-three Eastern District title series this weekend.
