Skipjacks sweep Harford CC in fall baseball opener
Chesapeake College opened its fall baseball season last Friday with a doubleheader sweep of visiting Harford Community College.

The Skipjacks won the opener, 11-1, as Chris Beaver (3-for-3), Steve Aaron (2-for-2), and Andrew Markey (2-for-3) each drove in a run. Seven pitchers combine on a five-hitter.

Brent Lewis (two RBI) and Michael Turner each went 2-for-2 in the nightcap, which the Skipjacks won, 9-4. Jordan Heller added a triple.

Once again, seven Skipjack pitchers combined on a five-hitter. "I thought we played pretty well," said head coach Frank Szymanski. "We pitched well, played good defense and had good hitting.

"The fall is a time for evaluations," added Szymanski, who has developed a 21-game fall schedule for his team. "It gives every player a great opportunity to showcase their skills for the coaching staff."

The Skipjacks play a doubleheader at St. Mary’s College of Maryland Saturday and a home quadruple-header Sunday. Chesapeake plays a 10 a.m. twin bill against Mt. Airy American Legion and a 2:30 p.m. doubleheader against the Central Maryland Phillies.
