Boussougou comes up big in overtimes to beat ’Jacks
Chesapeake College men suffer second straight heartbreaking loss

WYE MILLS – Paco Boussougou scored seven of his 11 points in the two overtimes as Mercer Community College defeated Chesapeake College, 77-69, and handed the Skipjacks their second straight heartbreaking loss Friday night.

Tracy Jones scored a game-high 23 points and pulled down six rebounds to lead the Skipjacks. Rockeem Harris (15 points), Sam Sanders (13 points, six rebounds, three assists) and Josh Owens (12 points, nine rebounds, two steals) also reached double figures for the Skipjacks.

Chesapeake dropped a 66-65 decision to CCBC-Catonsville last Tuesday when former James M. Bennett High star C.J. Brown hit a 3-pointer as time expired in the Skipjacks’ conference opener.

Six Mercer players scored in double figures, led by 15 points each from Quincy Hendryx and Isiah Andrews. Aaron Smitherman scored 12 while Quentin Lofton and Gary Carthan added 10 each.

The Skipjacks (1-3) host Harcum College Tuesday night at 7 p.m. and are then off until a December 2nd game at the College of Southern Maryland.
