Chesapeake College to host 2nd annual junior tennis tournament (Flyer/entry form)
The tournament will feature girls’ and boys’ singles along with mixed doubles. Entry fees are $20 for singles and $20 for doubles ($10 per doubles teammate). All entrants receive a tournament T-shirt while winners and runners-up in each flight receive trophies

WYE MILLS – Chesapeake College will host its second annual Junior Tennis Tournament the weekend of October 2-3.

The tournament will feature girls’ and boys’ singles along with mixed doubles. Entry fees are $20 for singles and $20 for doubles ($10 per doubles teammate). All entrants receive a tournament T-shirt while winners and runners-up in each flight receive trophies.

Last year, the tournament featured only girls’ singles and doubles. North Caroline High star Stephanie Johnson won the girls’ singles championship while Kent Island High sisters Corrie and Cara Russell won the girls’ doubles crown.

Boys’ singles is being added this year, with the girls’ doubles replaced by mixed doubles.

"We’re hoping that adding the mixed doubles will encourage players in the boys’ and girls’ singles brackets to partner up for what should be a fun draw," said Tournament Director Rich Midcap.

The tournament is open to boys and girls in grades 9 through 12 in the 2010-11 school year. Individuals interested in registering for the tournament may obtain a tournament registration form at www.chesapeake.edu/athletics. Forms have also been mailed to North Bayside tennis coaches at each high school.

Checks should be made payable to Chesapeake College, with "tennis tournament" on the check’s notation line. They may be mailed with a completed entry form to: Chesapeake College, c/o Rich Midcap, P.O. Box 8, Wye Mills, MD 21679.

Matches will be best-of-three sets with advantage scoring, although tournament officials reserve the right to use no-ad pro sets if inclement weather shortens the tournament.
