’Jacks break out in a big way against Lakers
McMahon spins six-hitter; Russo, Larson each net two RBI

McHENRY – Mike Russo and Zach Larson each had two hits and drove in two runs Sunday afternoon to back winning pitcher Richie McMahon’s six-hitter as the Skipjacks routed host Garrett College, 12-2.

"We’re excited and we’re relieved," said Chesapeake head baseball coach Frank Szymanski, whose team had dropped eight of 10 entering Sunday’s game. "Richie pitched an excellent game, we had some quality at bats, and the defense played pretty well."

Jordan Gowe hit a solo homer and drove in two runs while Ricky Brady and Jake Yarber each had two hits and one RBI. Chesapeake finished with 11 hits.

The second game of the scheduled doubleheader was cancelled in the first inning due to rain.
