Chesapeake tops Takoma Park for 8th win in 10 games
Sanders scores a team-high 21 points as six Skipjacks reach double figures
WYE MILLS Sam Sanders scored a team-high 21 points Wednesday night to lead six Skipjacks into double figures as Chesapeake College defeated Montgomery College Takoma Park, 109-76, to complete its men’s basketball home schedule with an 11-2 record.
Gamari Mayfield (nine rebounds) added 14 points while Akanni Salako (eight rebounds), Delfawn Worrells (seven rebounds), and Rocky Harris each contributed 13 points. Chad Church (seven rebounds) was the sixth Skipjack in double figures with 10 points.
Brandon Davis scored a game-high 23 points for Takoma Park (8-17) and teammate Elvin Jackson added 22 points.
Chesapeake (17-10) has won eight of its last 10 games. The Skipjacks play at Potomac State College of West Virginia University Saturday in their regular-season finale before competing in the NJCAA Division II Region XX tournament. That tournament takes place March 1-4 at Hagerstown Community College.
