Eliason, Usilton score in Skipjacks’ loss to Frederick
Chesapeake will look for first win Tuesday afternoon at Southern Maryland
FREDERICK Frederick Community College’s Richie Reyes scored three goals and Enrique Sanchez added a goal and two assists last Wednesday in the Cougars’ 6-2 men’s soccer victory over visiting Chesapeake College.
Thomas Eliason scored Chesapeake’s first goal in the opening half off a free kick by Hunter Jones into the Frederick box that Eliason controlled at the far post. Chesapeake’s second goal came in the second half when Matt Usilton scored off a feed from Jones.
Qingshu Chi added a goal on a penalty kick for the Cougars (1-1 overall, 1-1 league), who also benefited from an "own" goal on a misplay by the Chesapeake defense.
"We just didn’t play our best soccer today," said Chesapeake head coach Mark Dennis. "I suspect that is in part due to having only two substitutes available, our lack of experience and the hot weather.
"Most of our guys played the entire 90 minutes or close to it," added Dennis, whose team dropped to 0-2 overall and in the Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference. "As frustrated as I was with our performance I applaud the effort our guys gave. We definitely have things we need to work on and I expect to see improvement. "
FCC goalie Jesse Parsons had nine saves while Skipjack goalie Mace Davis finished with seven saves.
