Welcome to Chesapeake's Communication Studies Department web site
and thank you for your interest!
There's a reason that communication coursework is required of all major programs of study. Whether you take one class or become a Communication major, whether you plan to earn a Bachelor's degree or enter directly into your chosen career, the ability to effectively communicate is vital to your continued success and learning.
All types of communication skills are necessary for employment in the 21st century workforce. In fact, surveys of employers have shown that the need for communication skills such as listening, public speaking, mass media literacy, teamwork, and leadership often rank higher than more specialized knowledge in any given career field.
If you are planning to major in Communication Studies at Chesapeake College (Liberal Arts and Sciences 216), rest assured that we will provide you with a great foundation with which to transfer to a four-year college or university.
Please take a few minutes to look through our web pages and feel free to contact us with any questions you may have or for more information.
