Procedures for Course Registration

Please read carefully

You may join the IAL for a semester by completing the IAL membership form, and register for as many classes as you like using the course registration forms. Membership and registration forms, including membership dues and any course fees, must be submitted together for the current semester.

Mail-in registration is the preferred method. Students will be enrolled on a first-come, first-served basis. Registrations will continue to be accepted until classes are filled or begin. No receipt or confirmation will be sent upon registration. However you will be notified if a class is full or cancelled.

Due to the increase in membership it will not be possible to call students who do not get into every class in which they register for. However if all classes you wish to take are filled you will be notified and your membership will be returned to you without being processed. It may be necessary to limit certain class sizes due to available seating or equipment (e.g., computers), or at the request of the instructor. Members who do not receive a class of choice due to over-registration will have priority IF a second section is offered.

The IAL Membership Chair will be provided with members' names and addresses for the purposes of determining the number of new members we have each semester, how many members do not renew, and the geographic locations of the membership. This information will be used to improve our curriculum offering. If a member prefers this information not be disclosed, contact Anne Slater at 410-827-5810.

If you register for a class, the IAL expects that you will attend that class. In deference to the instructor and other students who may wish to take the class, please let IAL administrator, Anne Slater, know if you need to drop the class.

Institute classes are held at the Wye Mills campus of Chesapeake College, in the Higher Education Building, HEC 210, unless otherwise specified.

Lively presentations and discussions are planned for our Brown Bag Luncheons on Mondays at 11:45 am in HEC 210. Come with ideas for new and exciting subjects. Brown Bag Luncheons are open to the public. If you are interested in leading a discussion group at one of the Brown Bag Luncheons, or have a potential topic or speaker to suggest, please let us know.

We will be using e-mail to announce Brown Bag Luncheons, special trips, and other types of activities. Please keep us informed of any changes of your street or e-mail address.
