Achieve your educational goals without going broke!
The Financial Aid Office at Chesapeake College realizes that even though our tuition rates are low, many students still need financial assistance in order to achieve their educational goals. We recommend that students apply for ALL sources of financial assistance; federal, state, institutional and private since there are more expenses than one might think. There are direct costs pertaining to being a student such as tuition, fees and books. To get an idea of your tuition costs, use our tuition estimator. There are indirect costs such as housing expenses, transportation, and childcare. Awarding funds to cover all direct and indirect costs is difficult, therefore, the Financial Aid Office does consider all costs when packaging a student for financial aid. With limited resources, Chesapeake College reserves the right to reduce or rescind a financial aid package should a student receive more financial assistance from various sources. Our goal is to cover direct expenses and award as many eligible students as possible with the resources available.
As a matter of fact, in the 2002/2003 school year, 37% or 1208 students attending credit courses at Chesapeake College received some type of financial assistance, through federal, state, institutional or private funds.
The primary function of the Financial Aid Office is to provide the necessary assistance to eligible students to help them meet their educational goals while attending Chesapeake College. We provide information on private funding as well as non-traditional sources of funding, such as monetary benefits for community service and national scholarship sources. We provide this service free of charge. There are many organizations that will advertise as a financial aid locator and charge a fee. Do not fall prey to these organizations. They are scams and generally charge exorbitant fees, yet do not deliver any useful information.
