Friday, November 7, 2008 Where are the Eastern Shore's Roads Taking Us? A Regional Transportation Summit
8:30 am - 4:00 pm
This year's conference will gather leaders from the region and across the country to collaborate and problem solve about one of the most important issues on the Eastern Shore: transportation. After the keynote by Reid Ewing of the National Center for Smart Growth Education and Research, and a panel discussion, enjoy a networking lunch of gourmet, and seasonal local foods and wines from Eastern Shore producers. Featured during lunch will be an awards ceremony to honor those who demonstrate exemplary leadership in transportation policy on the Eastern Shore. We will wrap up the conference with a hands-on, facilitated group discussion to draw out the transportation priorities most important to the future of the Eastern Shore.
We’d like to point out our conference’s new carbon reduction options, such as purchasing carbon off-sets and free public transportation. That’s right...FREE public transportation to and from our conference!

Das Puppenspiel takes a step beyond the familiar "Jack and the Beanstalk" to present a series of tales handed down by storytellers over many generations. Originating in England and later coming to Appalachian America, "The Jack Tales" feature simple, but clever, Jak who finds himself in all kinds of magical adventures in his travels. Large, beautifully crafted "bunraku" style puppets and authentic traditional folk music combine to bring new life to this storytelling tradition.
