Director of the Early Childhood Center
Salary based on qualifications and experience.
The Director is responsible for the administration of the Early Childhood Development Center which offers child care to staff, students, faculty and the community. The Director ensures the physical, social, academic and emotional development of the center’s children (3-7), by providing high quality play, age-appropriate curriculum, and a healthy, stimulating environment. The center also serves as a model learning lab for students studying Early Childhood Development and related majors. The Director maintains appropriate accrediting standards, and is responsible for fiscal and administration management.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
Maintains a high-quality program, including development and implementation of an appropriate curriculum, classroom programming, health, social services, parent involvement, and parent education.
Collaborates with the Early Childhood Development Program, Education, and other academic programs to provide observation and demonstration experiences for college students studying child development, human growth, curriculum and related topics
Ensures compliance with MSDE Office of Child Care and maintains standards for MSDE Accreditation and Level 5 in the quality assurance Maryland EXCELS program
Recruits, interviews, hires, schedules, trains, supervises, evaluates, counsels, or dismisses personnel according to the personnel policies and procedures; maintains open communication with the staff,
Ensures that resources, money, space, and equipment are used to their maximum effectiveness. Monitors income and expenses of the Center; develops budgets and grant proposals with input from the college, staff, and parents to ensure that the Center remains financially viable;
Coordinates with all appropriate agencies to provide funding sources to maintain on-going support for the Center. Administers contracts on behalf of the Center and ensures that appropriate internal controls are in place.
Maintains communication with families, serving as a trusted resource and forging relationships with parents.
Represents the Center in the community, serving as the chief ambassador for the Center.

BS in Early Childhood Education, or in a related field with 45 clock hours of education in: Child Development, Curriculum and Child Care Center Management. Master’s degree preferred; 4 years of experience working in MSDE licensed child care administration with 1 year of experience in child care administration.
