THE IDEA You will rack your brain and get some help from databases and websites to come up with an idea for your research, writing a few sentences to describe your idea. Consult syllabus for due date. PART II. THE OVERVIEW You will find books, both electronic and print, to inform you on the issues that make up your subject, and compose a Working Bibliography. Consult syllabus for due date. PART III. REFINEMENT You will refine your search, using subscription databases and the web, adding sources to your Working Bibliography. Consult syllabus for due date. PART IV. EVALUATION You will review evaluation criteria and choose a source from your Working Bibliography to evaluate for authority and content. Consult syllabus for due date. PART V. GROUP PROJECT Work as a member of a group to identify and rank criteria for evaluating sources. Consult syllabus for due date. PART VI. THE THESIS STATEMENT Informed by preliminary research, you will turn your idea/research question into an arguable thesis. Consult syllabus for due date. PART VII.
