November 21, 2017

As I indicated earlier, I want to keep you updated on the work of the Presidential Search Advisory Committee. We held our second meeting of the Committee on November 16 to review the status of the search and begin preparation for the review of the applications.

At this point, we have 42 applications, including 4 nominations. While we will be accepting applications after December 1, the Committee will begin its review of the candidates on December 4.

Most of the meeting dealt with the rubric the Committee will use to evaluate the applications. The categories were taken directly from the Presidential Profile developed by the PSAC in response to input from the focus groups and then approved by the Board on October 5. The Committee discussed how to score the rubric and the weighting of each of the categories with experience and credentials having the most weight.

The Committee will meet on January 17 to review the results of the evaluations of each of the committee members and select 8-10 semi-final candidates for interviews. We anticipate those interviews will take place over 2 days in February with the goal of selecting 3-4 candidates for submission to the Board of Trustees.

On behalf of the Committee, I want to thank you for your support of this process. We are very pleased with our progress to date and the widespread interest in this position.

Nash McMahan

Chair, PSAC
