Chesapeake College gives you choices of where and when you take class. Online courses at Chesapeake offer education with no career interruption, no commuting, and no fixed class hours. You can access an online course from anywhere via the internet, while working on weekly assignments at the time of day best for you. Hybrid courses meet half the time in a traditional classroom and half the time online.
You will log into your course to view content, complete assignments, and interact with your instructor and classmates. This includes reading, writing, discussing, watching, listening, creating projects, and more. Expect to do more reading and writing than in a traditional class. Students in online and hybrid courses report learning objectives as much or more than a face-to-face classes and spend roughly the same amount time. One key to success in an online course is keeping up with assignments. Our online and hybrid courses are not self-paced.
Chesapeake offers three types of online courses, each with different requirements for on-campus attendance. They have different course mode labels.
Our staff and faculty are committed to helping you succeed. We understand the challenges you face with juggling coursework with other obligations (like work and family). That's why we offer support through the Online Learning Helpdesk and free tutoring (online and on campus) through the Learning Resource Center.
