Is Online Learning for Me?

We know that online courses aren’t a good fit for every student. Now we have a tool you can use to make a more informed decision about enrolling in an online class.

The Readiness for Education at a Distance Indicator (called READI) assesses the degree to which a you possess the attributes, skills and knowledge that contribute to success in online learning, including:

  • Individual attributes and skills, including self-motivation, self-discipline, persistence, time-management
  • Reading comprehension
  • Technical competency – the ability to use a laptop, printer, software, and the Internet.
  • Typing speed and accuracy
  • Preferred learning styles

READI uses a sequence of activities to measure these skills and attributes. It takes about 20-25 minutes and provides you an immediate score and a personalized interpretation of your results.

Chesapeake College receives summaries of results, not any individually identifiable student scores.
