Core Training for Skilled Trades: Intro to Construction + OSHA is the first step toward a career in the construction trades—and a prerequisite for all Chesapeake College construction programs.

This hands-on course builds the essential skills needed to work safely and confidently on a construction job site. Students learn OSHA 10 safety, applied construction math, basic communication, and employability skills, along with an introduction to hand tools, power tools, construction drawings, and material handling.

Designed for beginners, this course creates a strong foundation for any construction pathway at Chesapeake. Scholarships and payment plans are available, and students with prior construction experience may be eligible to test out of the course or meet the requirement through documented work experience.
