Connolly, Morris, Malabet recognized

Chesapeake College´s Katie Connolly was named to the all-state first team and the all-region second team, heading a list of three Skipjacks earning post-season softball honors.
Connolly hit .544, drove in 32 runs and scored 37 times to help lead the Skipjacks to the first 20-win softball season in school history. The sophomore third baseman, who graduated from Queen Anne´s County High School, was also recently honored for her academic achievements, earning a spot on the Region XX all-academic team.
Shortstop Beth Morris, a St. Michaels High School graduate, also earned multiple post-season honors. A freshman, Morris was named to the all-Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference second team after hitting .472 with 38 RBI and 32 runs scored in the regular season. She was also named to the Region XX all-tournament team, hitting .286 with nine RBI and four runs scored in four games as the Skipjacks finished third.
Freshman second baseman Monette Malabet, who graduated from Sussex (Milton, DE) Tech, was also named to the Region XX all-tournament team after hitting .500 in the tournament.
Chesapeake head softball coach Melissa Thompson called the selections "well-deserved recognition for these players and our program."
"I think people who follow junior-college softball in Maryland realize we are building something special here," said Thompson, who guided the Skipjacks to a 20-10 record that included a 14-6 conference
