Posted on Tuesday, November 21, 2006
WYE MILLS Take a break from the holiday rush and come see "Sleigh Ride Around the World" at the Rufus and Loraine Hall Todd Performing Arts Center at Chesapeake College. This original holiday musical review full of songs and dancing will be presented on Saturday, Dec. 2, and Sunday, Dec. 3.
For the past three years, TPAC has taken audiences somewhere on a "sleigh ride." This year, travel around the world with Aldolpho, a young boy from a small village bent on getting into everything just this side of mischief. With his trusted sidekick Arri, his older cousin, who tries to make him stay on task, we are off on "an incredible journey" to see holiday celebrations all over the world. Aldolpho will take us to Holland, Italy, England, and Russia to name a few. Oh, and of course around the United States!
Through elements of theatre, music and dance the show explores the many holiday customs in the world. The show features exciting production numbers like "Pada Pan" set in France, "Wooden Shoe Dances" from Holland, and "Festival" set in Brazil. Beautiful songs in several languages, and of course, a little magic take us from country to country.
The performers are from the Eastern Shore, Baltimore, and Virginia. It is a magical show, about a magical time, and something not to be missed. Make it a part of your tradition and bring the whole family on a "sleigh ride." This year around the world!
