Thomas scores 20 as Skipjacks keep Howard winless

WYE MILLS – Sherrie Thomas scored a game-high 20 points and passed out six assists Monday night as the Skipjacks (4-10) posted a 67-57 women´s basketball victory over winless Howard Community College (0-17) in their final home game of the season.

"It was a critical game for us," said Chesapeake head coach Lowell Shaw, whose team had lost three straight and nine of its last 11 games. "When you play a team you should beat, you have to beat them."

Chanae DeShields added 18 points while Yaasmiyn Finlayson (13 rebounds) and Anitra Cannon (five assists) scored 10 points each for Chesapeake. Monette Malabet just missed a double-double with nine points and 14 rebounds.

Lisa Campofelice scored 19 points to lead Howard, while teammate Jannelee Klipsteen added 17 points.

The Skipjacks finish the regular season with 7 p.m. games Wednesday at Baltimore City Community College and Friday at Anne Arundel Community College.
