WYE MILLS – The Theatre for Young People Series presents Dallas Children´s Theater in their original production of "If You Give a Pig a Party", the irresistible adventures of a darling pig and her loveable friends on Wednesday, Feb. 13 at 7 p.m. in the Todd Performing Arts Center at Chesapeake College.

Celebration reigns supreme in this delightful script of another of Laura Numeroff´s popular books from the #1 New York Times best-selling "If You Give" series. TPAC patrons will remember last season´s production of "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie." Settings leap from the page to the stage and are true to Felicia Bond´s wonderful illustrations. With live musical accompaniment and outrageous physical comedy, audiences are in for a compelling theatrical experience.

IF YOU GIVE A PIG A PARTY is a carnival of music, festivity and friendship. When a young Girl decides to throw a party for the Pig for no special reason, it isn´t long before the raucous entertainment begins. A motley group of friends are invited: Mouse, Moose, Cat, Dog and Snake. Before the party starts these curious and energetic chums soon lead the Girl on a whirlwind of events creating much more work than she originally anticipated. Will it be the best day ever for this silly bunch or a disaster in the making? Come see what happens when you mix puppets, bicycles, bumper cars, pillow fights, ballet and ice cream!

Laura Numeroff is the best-selling author of many books for children including "The Chicken Sisters" illustrated by Sharleen Collicott and "Laura Numeroff´s 10-Step Guide to Living with Your Monster" illustrated by Nate Evans. Felicia Bond has illustrated numerous books for children including "Big Red Barn" by Margaret Wise Brown and "Little Porcupine´s Christmas" by Joseph Slate. She is also author of "The Day It Rained Hearts", "The Halloween Play" and the Poinsettia books. Numeroff and Bond have collaborated on a best-selling series that delights adults and children with the "If You Give" books.

Directors Nancy Schaeffer and B. Wolf´s partnership spans more than 10 years, and this marks their first collaboration as co-authors. Ms. Schaeffer is an expert at presenting Laura Numeroff´s works for the stage.

Award winning set designer Randel Wright has taken his inspiration directly from the storybook and focused on the cyclical nature of the "If You Give" series themes. In addition to scenery, locations are projected 3-D animations using varying speeds to represent the rhythm of the piece, and generate a sense of anticipation that comes with turning the page. This innovative and groundbreaking concept, new to the theatrical art form and to Dallas, creates illusion, builds greater density and produces depth of movement with a cinematic feel.

Similar to the famous children´s book that inspired the play, this production is ideal for the youngest of audience members and is recommended for ages 3 and up. It is an excellent introduction to theater, as well as lively entertainment for all ages. Tickets for the show are $9. For more information, please the box office at 410-827-5867.
