WYE MILLS – The average 10-year-old may not be ready for college, but Chesapeake College has an interactive, fun summer program designed especially for children.

The Kids on Campus program, scheduled for June 23 through August 8, offers a variety of sessions designed for elementary and middle school children. The Future Stars sports camp, offered by the Athletics Department, runs from June 16 to August 15.

The Kids of Campus courses are divided into sections for children entering grades 2nd to 5th, and for those who are entering grades 6th to 8th. Course topics include arts/crafts, digital photography, Lego robotics, computer skills, German, Spanish, Russian Culture, Criminal Investigation, dance, culinary, math games, and ecological/wildlife studies.

"We are offering fun educational opportunities for children to help keep there minds stimulated over the summer in a safe environment. We are really excited about the course offerings this year. We have many talented educators or skilled professionals that will be teaching these courses," said Program Director Anne Slater.

Each program session is a half-day, with two sessions per day scheduled for each age group. Participants may choose to participate in one or two sessions per day. Kids on Campus sessions may also be combined with Chesapeake´s Future Stars sports camp sessions.

The Future Stars sports camp sessions, offered by the Athletics Department, are scheduled as half-day and full-day sections. These sports camps include soccer, baseball, basketball, field hockey, tennis and sports sampler.

In addition to the program sessions, Chesapeake is offering morning and afternoon care with the Kids Club. The morning session will run from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. and the afternoon session is from 4 to 5:30 p.m.

Find out more about the program during the Kids on Campus Open House on Tuesday, April 15 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Caroline Student Center cafeteria.
