Man Arrested for Cambridge Center Armed Robbery
Wednesday, May 05, 2010
CAMBRIDGE A Chesapeake College instructor was robbed at knifepoint late Wednesday afternoon in the city parking lot located behind the Cambridge Center on Race Street. The instructor was not hurt, and City of Cambridge police arrested a suspect within two blocks of the Cambridge Center minutes after the robbery.
Chesapeake College officials have asked the Cambridge Police to increase foot patrols of the parking lot, which the police have agreed to do. Even prior to this incident, the Cambridge Police said their procedures included keeping an officer within a three-block radius of Race Street 24 hours a day.
The college had already begun a review of available options to enhance security at the Cambridge Center. The purchase of security cameras and an augmented security force are being reviewed.
