Posted on Monday, March 26, 2012
WYE MILLS Registration is now open for Chesapeake College’s popular summer enrichment program for children. The Kids on Campus program, scheduled for June 25 through August 10, offers a variety of sessions designed for elementary and middle school children.
The Kids on Campus courses are divided into sections for children by the grades they are entering in Fall 2012. The line-up also includes a selection of classes developed specifically for children entering the 1st grade. The Counselor in Training course will again be offered for students entering 9th through 11th grades. Course topics include arts/crafts, digital photography, Lego robotics, cheerleading, dance, cooking, sewing, digital video, guitar, and ecological/wildlife studies.
"We are offering fun educational opportunities for children to help keep their minds stimulated over the summer in a safe environment. We are really excited about our new course offerings. We have many talented educators or skilled professionals who will be teaching these courses," said Program Director Anne Slater.
Each program session is a half-day, with two sessions per day scheduled for each age group. Participants may choose to participate in one or two sessions per day. Kids on Campus sessions may also be combined with Chesapeake’s Future Stars sports camp sessions. In addition to the program sessions, Chesapeake is offering morning and afternoon care with the Kids Club. The morning session will run from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. and the afternoon session is from 4 to 5:30 p.m.
