Auditions Set for "Chesapeake Idol" Show at TPAC

WYE MILLS Chesapeake College will hold open auditions on Tuesday, April 19 for Chesapeake Idol, a local talent contest in May. The Chesapeake Idol contest will open the Chesapeake College 40th Birthday Bash on Saturday, May 7. The contest will be held at 7:30 p.m., as the opening act for The Return, a Beatles tribute band.
Auditions will be held on Tuesday, April 19 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Todd Performing Arts Center. Contestants should prepare a one-minute segment of a song from the 1960s. The piece may be from any genre including pop, rock, folk, country, jazz or musical theatre. Candidates should dress and perform in the style of the 1960s. Performers should provide their own accompaniment for the auditions. A cd player, microphone and piano will be available during auditions.
Five contestants will be chosen to compete in the Chesapeake Idol show on May 7. A panel of judges will select the top performer, who will receive a $500 prize donated by Centreville National Bank.
