What is Student Support Services?
Student Support Services (SSS) is a federally funded TRIO
program through the U.S. Department of Education to provide free academic, career
and financial aid support to eligible college students. Student Support
Services can help students adjust to college life by providing academic advising/counseling, free tutoring,
and financial assistance. Staff members also
maintain information on campus and community resources and refer students to
appropriate offices and agencies.
Why You Should Join Student Support Services?
We provide the following services:
- Excellent, free tutoring services
- Information about applying for financial aid and scholarships
- Qualified professional staff to assist with academic
and personal needs
- Support in time management, study skills, and test
anxiety
- Learning style and strategy assessments
- Temperament, locus of control, and career inventories
- Information and special assistance to program
members who are disabled
- Career planning/web access to embark
- Limited financial support for eligible students.
The Student Support Services office is located in the Academic
Support Center, first floor of the new Learning Resource Center. Stop in and
see Ruth Plinke, Director, for an application.
