Volunteer Maryland Coordinator
Talbot County Department of Social Services
The Volunteer Maryland Coordinator (VMC) will work to recruit, orient and manage volunteers that will serve in many capacities to support clients of Talbot County DSS. The VMC will work with 25 existing volunteers and seek to recruit a minimum of 10 additional volunteers. This is an 11 month, full-time (40 hours/week) position as a member of the Volunteer Maryland (VM) AmeriCorps program.
The VMC service year will begin on September 15, 2010 and conclude on August 2, 2011. Full-time VMCs receive a living stipend of $13,000, an education award of $5,350, and health insurance if they are not already covered. They may also qualify for a child care allowance. Other benefits include student loan deferment, professional training, valuable networking opportunities, working with a dedicated team of AmeriCorps members and staff, and making a real difference in a local community.

Work with Habitat Choptank’s professional construction staff
and volunteers in all aspects of its sustainable home building toward meeting
ongoing construction goals, and developing a vibrant and sustainable crew chief
program.
Americorps VISTA ReStore Development Associate
Work with the Habitat Choptank ReStore Manager in successfully
launching this venture by designing and implementing an effective volunteer
program, accelerating donations and customer sales, and integrating ReStore and
commercial best practices into the operations.
Service Description (for both opportunities):
Service Year: August 2010 – July 2011
Schedule: Tuesday – Saturdays for 40 hrs/wk
Compensation: Living allowance of $11,000/year
Educational award of $4,725 at the successful completion of the service year
Additional benefits include health and dental coverage, worker’s compensation
coverage, and student loan forbearance (if applicable) while participating in
AmeriCorps service.

two creative and energetic volunteers to assist instructors with our Mixed Media
Summer Program for kids (ages 5-10). Classes will be held on Wednesday mornings
July 7, 14, 21 & 28 (9:30am—12pm)
