EFFECTIVE VOLUNTEERING: Putting the “Pro” in the Pro Bono for Volunteers and Managers
“Everybody wins” is the order of the day for fostering a successful collaboration between an organization and a volunteer. It is not easy to ensure a perfect fit between the needs of the organization and the talents/skills of the volunteer. This course is designed for volunteers and managers alike to enable both to prepare for and achieve a successful relationship. Topics will cover developing realistic expectations, marketing for volunteers, recruitment techniques, training, overcoming challenges, documenting service time, and more. Both volunteers and managers will benefit from this course by developing a professionalized approach to volunteer service from start to finish. All students pay $89 course fee.

YOU AND YOUR FUNDER: Building and Managing a Relationship (while Raising Money) for Your Nonprofit
The art of grant writing is only the tip of the iceberg of a successful relationship with a funder. This course will look at funding as the centerpiece of a relationship that meets the mutual and individual needs of both nonprofit and funder. Topics will include: identifying funding partners, making pre-proposal contacts, developing “the pitch,” crafting budgets and evaluation, finalizing/following up, collaborating with your funder, delivering on promises, partnering with other funders, giving back to your funder, and evolving the relationship. At the end of the course, you should be able both to apply for money and develop a strong partnership with your funder. All students pay $89 course fee.

VIRAL NETWORKING I:
Leveraging Social Media Networks to Grow your Business or Brand
This session covers the basics of using and understanding social media platforms, and understanding the potential for having information go "viral". Learn how to leverage your social media network to create a buzz about your brand and grow your small business. Discover techniques for using the "Big 5" social media platforms are discussed - FaceBook, LinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube and blogging. This is not a "how to build a FaceBook page", it is a "how to strategize" with social media to get results. All students pay a $49 course fee.

VIRAL NETWORKING II:
Using FaceBook & LinkedIn
Have you set up your LinkedIn and FaceBook page but don’t know what to do next? This program is a STRATEGY session on how to leverage the FaceBook and LinkedIn social networks you've created to generate results. These powerful social media tools can help you reach untapped markets. Learn the 3 Rules of Success for using social media to grow your business or a brand. All students pay a $49 course fee.
10/21/10 9 am – 12:15 pm - 1 session
VIRAL NETWORKING III:
Using Twitter, Blogs and YouTube
Session III offers a very brief recap on the role of social media for marketing a brand with in-depth coverage on Twitter and basics of YouTube and blogging. Learn methods for charting the progress of your competition using social media tools. This session is for savvy internet users. In order to understand the content covered, attendees should have visited blog sites with an understanding of what a "blog" is, viewed videos online, and have set up a twitter account. All students pay a $49 course fee.
