Chesapeake's volleyball coaching staff looks to use a blend of old and new for the current season. The Skipjacks volleyball team opened the '24-'25 season with five returning players and five new freshmen.
Head Coach John Buell said of the returning players, "They have learned to conquer adversity and that it’s not about how much they succeed but how much they are willing to fail, learn from those failures and keep trying. They have that growth mindset they’ve developed over years of playing sports."
The coaches said player diversity is the team's strength this season.
"We have several players who can play multiple positions and can adapt and succeed in multiple spots on the court. The whole team has a positive attitude and great team chemistry on and off the court always supporting each other," said Assistant Coach Kirsten Blake.
The Skipjacks have a six-game stint on the road and return to play in Wye Mills Friday, Oct. 4 when they take on Hagerstown Community College.
