Chesapeake College will open the next Leggett Gallery Exhibit at the Cambridge Center on Saturday, April 6 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. The exhibit will run through May 31.
This multi-artist exhibit features works created through the art therapy program at the Eastern Shore Hospital Center (ESHC). The artists used 1,000 year-old clay from the archaeological site at the “The Hill” in Easton. The site, which was the first free African-American neighborhood in the United States, is providing a wealth of local history. Under the direction of Guest Artist Margaret Boozer of Washington D.C., ESHC patients used some of the excavated clay to create “memory” pieces. Thirteen of the pieces are included in the exhibit, and all will be for sale. Proceeds will benefit the individual artists. Reception refreshments will be provided by The Wine BAr
