Orientation Sessions
HEALTHCARE CAREERS ORIENTATION SESSIONS
Interested in the healthcare field? Learn about the wide array of career pathways offered at Chesapeake College by attending a Health Careers Orientation. Specific information regarding course requirements, tuition, and the processes/information required for registration will be covered. Orientations are free and open to the public. Pre-registration is required. To pre-register, please email CEHealthcare@chesapeake.edu.
Students interested in enrolling in the Administrative Medical Assistant, Clinical Medical Assistant, Nursing Assistant, Certified Medical Aide, Dental Assistant, or Veterinary Assistant courses are required to attend an orientation session.

Online Training
ONLINE TRAINING IN THE HEALTHCARE FIELD
Chesapeake College offers four online allied health training programs. Students have online access to the training material for a period of 6 months. Courses are on demand and include all textbooks. CLINICAL MEDICAL ASSISTANT
This continuing education course prepares students to assist physicians by performing functions related to the clinical aspects of a medical office, such as preparing patients for examination and treatment, routine laboratory procedures, pharmacology, taking and documenting vital signs, technical aspects of phlebotomy, the 12-lead EKG, and the cardiac life cycle.

MEDICAL ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT
This continuing education course is designed to prepare students to function effectively in many of the administrative and clerical positions in the healthcare industry. Topics include interpersonal skills, medical ethics, billing, coding, and medical records.

MEDICAL BILLING AND CODING
This continuing education course is designed to provide students with the skills needed to solve insurance billing and coding problems. Topics include proper assignment of codes, and the process to file claims for reimbursement.

PHARMACY TECHNICIAN PROGRAM
This continuing education course will prepare students to enter the pharmacy field and pursue certification, including the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board’s exam. Topics include Pharmacy calculations, medical terminology specific to the pharmacy, and skills to read and interpret prescriptions.
