CORE TRAINING FOR SKILLED TRADES
This course is designed to prepare the student for completion of the first curriculum of the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER), which must be completed before other NCCER courses can be attempted. Topics include basic safety, introduction to construction drawings, basic rigging, basic communication skills, basic employability skills, and introduction to materials handling. DRAFTING & DESIGN PROGRAM
This certificate program prepares students for employment as entry-level drafters in architectural and engineering professions or for further study in the field. Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to interpret and create technical drawings using various types of CAD software, understand and demonstrate the use of industry standards, perform estimates and scheduling for various types of projects, and much more.

FUNDAMENTAL SKILLS FOR CONSTRUCTION
Register for this exciting new course where students will receive the following certifications: OSHA 10, Lift Truck, and First Aid/CPR. Explore topics such as introduction to hand tools, introduction to power tools, introduction to construction drawings, introduction to construction math, materials handling, fall protection, emergency action plans, electrical safety, hazard communication, machine guarding and loading/unloading trailers, and basic employability skills.
*PLEASE NOTE: Class will also be held Saturday October 22, 2022 from 9:00am to 1:00pm and Saturday, November 12, 2022 from 9:00am to 3:00pm. There will be no class Tuesday, November 8, 2022 and Thursday, November 10, 2022.

ELECTRICAL TECHNICIAN PROGRAM
Electricians install electrical systems in structures; they install wiring and other electrical components, such as circuit breaker panels, switches, and light fixtures; and they follow blueprints, the National Electrical Code® and state and local codes. To prepare learners for a career in the electrical field, students utilize the NCCER Electrical Program, a comprehensive four-level electrical curriculum that complies with the Department of Labor time-based standards for registered apprenticeships. Each level is divided into two consecutive classes (Part 1 and Part 2). Instruction consists of both classroom (theory) and lab (hands-on) training throughout the program.
PREREQUISITES: at least 16 years of age, College Placement Test for Arithmetic, Core Training for Skilled Trades (CEI 930). (Core may be waived by permission of the Program Director or Coordinator if you have qualifying work experience in the trade.) Contact skilledtrades@chesapeake.edu for additional information.

This 72 hour course meets the requirements for home inspection pre-licensure for the State of Maryland as a provision of law under the Business Occupational and Professions Article, Annotated Code of Maryland, § 16-3A-03. This course teaches the basics of home inspection as required to be a licensed home inspector in the State of Maryland. BASIC POOL & SPA OPERATION CERTIFICATION COURSE
This course offers instruction for the completion of the Maryland Pool Operators license. Upon completion, students will become certified and eligible for a State Pool & Spa Operator’s license. The course materials include the role of the operator, legal aspects of opening a pool/spa facility, water chemistry, sanitation, safety, maintenance of plant equipment, and spa operations.
Completion of all Presentations and a final exam grade of 75% or better is required to receive your Certificate of Completion. Certification is valid for three years before recertification is required. Updated training manual and shipping fee is included in the course fee due to numerous updates from the CDC and the State of Maryland. Registration and payment must be received no less than 7 business days prior to your desired course start date or your registration will be moved to the next later class section start date.

WELDING AND FABRICATION CERTIFICATE PROGRAM

This program is designed to prepare students for immediate employment as certified entry-level welder/fabricators. Students can choose from the following two specialization tracks:
MIG & TIG Certificate: Provides students with specialized instruction in GMAW, GTAW, and metal fabrication. Designed for students interested in career pathways involving structural and decorative metal fabrication in shop-settings using carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.
Stick & Flux-cored Certificate: Provides students with specialized instruction in SMAW, FCAW, and metal fabrication. Designed for students interested in pursuing career pathways in construction of steel structures, shipbuilding, pipeline/utilities construction, industrial fabrication and repair.

WELDING CERTIFICATION PRACTICE AND TESTING
This continuing education class will provide welders with mid-level experience the opportunity to attend instructor-guided labs. Students will be given four hours of hands-on practice time and two hours of test time to produce a welded test piece that will be submitted for evaluation and potential acceptance for the American Welding Society designation of Advanced Welder. WORK READY WELDING
This program is designed to provide knowledge of the Fundamentals of Welding, cutting processes, Fabrication processes and Essential Skills for Workplace Excellence. At the end of the program, students will be prepared for and given an industry-recognized welding certification test (American Welding Society Code D1.1 – carbon steel plate test).
