MARINE SERVICE TECHNICIAN PROGRAM
Whether you are a boat enthusiast, work in the marine industry, or are ready to begin a new career, our instructors will teach you to install, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair a wide range of marine equipment and systems. Learn in our dedicated marine trades labs with industry experts, then put your skills to work on the water as a Yamaha Certified Technician or Basic Marine Electronics Installer (MEI). INTRODUCTION TO MARINE ENGINE SYSTEMS
This continuing education course is designed to enable students to gain a basic understanding of marine engines, their operating principles, and the tools used to service and maintain them. This course is ideal for those interested in pursuing employment in the marine service industry. Topics include an orientation to the marine service industry, outboard engine systems, diesel engine systems, common engine/boat parts, mechanic service tools, and basic service procedures. Students have the opportunity to obtain industry-recognized certifications from marine manufacturers such as Yamaha and Volvo Penta. No class 06/20/22, 07/04/22.

MARINE AUXILIARY SYSTEMS
This continuing education course is designed to enable students to gain an understanding of the theory and function of auxiliary systems found on boats. This course is ideal for those interested in pursuing employment in the marine service industry. Topics include electrical theory, installation and troubleshooting of basic marine electronics, common marine materials and composites, plumbing, and general boat maintenance/service practices. Students have the opportunity to obtain industry-recognized certification from the National Marine Electronics Association (NMEA).

NMEA BASIC MEI EXAM/PREP
This continuing education course is designed to review content and deliver the National Marine Electronics Association’s (NMEA) Basic Marine Electrical Installer (MEI) exam. This course is meant to be taken at the conclusion of the Marine Auxiliary Systems course. Topics include Ohm’s law, grounds, battery and battery chargers, DC wiring, EMI, coaxial cables, antennas, AIS, marine VHF radios, transducers, radar, heading sensors, and NMEA data interfacing. An MEI certificate is an indication of a working knowledge of NMEA’s Installation Standard.

NEW COURSE! IN-LINE OUTBOARD ENGINE SERVICE
This course is designed to facilitate students’ mastery of the maintenance tasks associated with the F/LF150B model engines per the service interval requirements in the applicable service manual for 20 to 1000 hours of engine operation. Topics include service literature, tools, maintenance charts, powerheads, lower units/midsection, propellers, and fuel systems.

PROFESSIONAL CAPTAIN’S SCHOOL
This course is designed to prepare the mariner with knowledge level necessary, as required by the US Coast Guard, to become a professional captain. Topics include rules of the sea, navigation, GPS, Loran, firefighting, boat handling, marine communications, aids to navigation, and marine publications.

MASTER CAPTAIN’S LICENSE UPGRADE
This is a US Coast Guard approved course for those who wish to upgrade their existing OUPV to a Master level license. Depending on the student’s experience on the water, the Master’s license is issued as a 25, 50 or 100-ton license. The Master level license is required to operate an inspected vessel that carries seven or more paying passengers. The course includes 20 modules that include cargo handling, principles of ship construction, stability, rules and regulations for crew and passenger safety, vessel alteration, on-board safety drills, lifesaving equipment requirements, and operation and collision at sea prevention regulations.

ASSISTANCE TOWING ENDORSEMENT
This is a US Coast Guard approved course intended to prepare students to successfully demonstrate the knowledge required to pass the CG Assistance Towing Endorsement Exam. The course covers towing safety, forces in towing, equipment, towing procedures, and precautions.
