Are you an experienced Solidworks software user? Would you like to help train the next generation of Solidworks users? Chesapeake College is hiring Part-time Instructors for an upcoming Solidworks course.

Instruction focuses on teaching students basic concepts within the Solidworks software to include drawing lines and shapes, then transforming them into 3D Models that meet criteria on provided prints and practice parts. Classes are offered in the evening on the main campus in Wye Mills. Curriculum and instructional resources will be provided to you.

You can earn up to $40.00 per hour; day classes typically meet Monday thru Friday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and night classes, 6 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Essential Job Duties

The CAD-Solidworks Instructor will plan, organize, and teach the discipline of Computer Aided Drafting specifically within the Solidworks application. Instructor is responsible for presenting and demonstrating curriculum content as well as evaluating student grasp of theory and practical application.

As a Part-time Computer Aided Design Instructor, you will provide technical instruction in mechanical subjects including 3D design in Solidworks to prepare students for CSWA certification through Solidworks at the end of the course.

Additional responsibilities include: Teaching courses as assigned, instructing and evaluating students, developing students’ skills and encouraging growth, and tracking their attendance, performance, and grades. Supervising and monitoring students’ use of tools and equipment. Observing and evaluating students’ work to determine progress, providing feedback, and making suggestions for improvement. Administering assessments to measure progress and evaluate training effectiveness.

  • 2-5 years’ experience using Solidworks for mechanical design
  • Understand current trends, research, developments, and resources in relevant
  • Federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations as they relate to students and teaching
  • Computer skills such as: 3D CAD software (SolidWorks), Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
