The formula for financial need is Cost of Attendance minus Expected Family Contribution (as determined by completing the FAFSA). There are other costs related to being a student beyond tuition and fees. Federal guidance allows us to include room, board, books, supplies, transportation and personal expenses. The actual cost to you, the student is much lower as you will be responsible for paying direct costs; tuition, fees and books. Students’ financial aid packages can never exceed their financial need.
Chesapeake College takes pride in offering a wide array of grant and scholarship aid. The Net Price Calculator will estimate how much grant aid you may receive based on certain information you are asked to provide. This calculation is only an estimate.
Chesapeake College will consider students for all federal aid programs eligible based on the availability of funds, application completion date and interest in a particular program. Chesapeake College does not participate in the Direct Loan program, and since we are a low cost Community College, we do not receive a large federal aid budget and must select the neediest students for aid consideration. We encourage all students to apply for all sources of aid in order to maximize their chances of receiving some type of financial assistance.
