Chesapeake College Alumna Laura Heikes was recently honored as Talbot County Chamber of Commerce 2014 Business Woman of the Year. Heikes, who earned an associate’s degree from Chesapeake in 1989, is the senior vice president of branch administration for Talbot Bank.

In honoring Heikes, the Chamber cited her commitment to the community and volunteer work with numerous organizations including Junior Achievement of Talbot County, Character Counts and Habitat for Humanity.

“I attended classes at Chesapeake in the evenings because I wanted to continue working full time,” Heikes said. “The flexible schedule and opportunities at Chesapeake allowed me to work and advance my career.”
