WYE MILLS – Jeannie Haddaway-Riccio, Director of Intergovernmental Affairs, will deliver the 2015 Commencement Address at Chesapeake on May 20.

Haddaway-Riccio, who was a member of Governor Lawrence Hogan’s transition team, was appointed by the governor earlier this year to serve as director of intergovernmental affairs. In this role, Ms. Haddaway-Riccio serves as the primary contact between Maryland’s local governments and the governor. Prior to this appointment, Ms. Haddaway-Riccio served for nearly 12 years as a member of the Maryland House of Delegates representing District 37B (Caroline, Dorchester, Talbot and Wicomico counties).

Just 26 when she was appointed to fill an unexpired term in the House of Delegates, Ms. Haddaway-Riccio was re-elected delegate in both 2006 and 2010. She served as the Republicans’ assistant minority whip (2005-10) and minority whip (2011-13). Ms. Haddaway-Riccio also served as house chair of the Talbot County Delegation (2013-15), treasurer for the Eastern Shore Delegation (2013-15) and in various leadership roles within Women Legislators of Maryland.

Born in Easton and raised in Neavitt, Ms. Haddaway-Riccio attending St. Michaels High School and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from Salisbury University. Founder and past president of the Mid-Shore Young Republicans, Ms. Haddaway-Riccio was a delegate to the 2012 Republican National Convention.

In addition to her government service, Ms. Haddaway-Riccio owns Dragonfly Designs, LLC, a graphic and web-design company. Her civic work includes services as a “Character Counts!” coach, assistant Sunday School teacher (high school class), founding member on the Delmarva Planned Giving Council, and member of the board of directors for the St. Michaels Community Center. She currently serves on the board of directors for the Chesapeake College Foundation.
