Dr. Stuart Bounds, Past President and Athletic Program Supporter
As president of Chesapeake College from 1997 – 2008, Dr. Bounds led Chesapeake College at a time of athletic excellence. A strong supporter of Chesapeake’s athletic programs, Dr. Bounds also championed the college’s student athletes encouraging them to pursue success in their chosen sports and in the classroom. Dr. Bounds said, “Just before my retirement I received a souvenir baseball signed by the members of our NJCAA Baseball World Series Team. I left it in my office for my successor as a celebration of our success at the highest level of NJCAA athletics.”
Ms. Denver Clyde, Women’s Basketball Athlete
During here time at Chesapeake, Ms. Clyde earned multiple accolades including All Region XX 1st Team, All Maryland JUCO 1st Team, NJCAA All American 1st Team, Region Most Valuable Player and Maryland Most Valuable Player. After her graduation from Chesapeake in 2013, Ms. Clyde transferred to Bowie State University where she made the Dean’s List and earned her bachelor’s degree in 2017.
Mr. Patrick Hambleton, Soccer Athlete
A graduate of St. Michaels Middle High School and Chesapeake College (2010), Mr. Hambleton returned to his high school Alma Mater to head the school’s athletics program. After graduating from Chesapeake, Mr. Hambleton went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration at University of Maryland University College. He is the athletic director and soccer coach at St. Michaels Middle High School.
Mr. Jimmy Jenkins, Men’s Basketball Athlete
A native of Washington, DC, Mr. Jenkins was named National Player of the Week and All-JUCO 2nd, Team All-Conference 1st Team in 2013. He graduated from Chesapeake College in 2013 and transferred to the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. Mr. Jenkins said he learned at Chesapeake the value of personal reinvention. No matter the circumstances, he said, there is always a chance to improve. He is the CEO and co-founder of ManPower and The Garden School in Washington, DC.
Mr. Tony Riggi, Baseball Coach
Mr. Riggi coached at Chesapeake from 2002 to 2014. During his tenure, Chesapeake team’s traveled to prestigious tournaments including the Regional XX Tournament and NJCAA Division II World Series. Mr. Riggi said during his time at Chesapeake, he enjoyed watching players improve, and then follow their careers as both players and coaches.
