Kent County Teacher is New Board Member

Brenda Shorter, a lifelong educator, was recently appointed to the Chesapeake College Board of Trustees.

A retired English teacher with Kent County High School, Mrs. Shorter is still active in the Kent County Public School system.  She currently serves as a mentor to new, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd year teachers in both Kent County middle and high schools.

She teaches students who are home or hospital bound, and works as an evaluator for the 21st Century Community Learning Centers summer program held at Worton Elementary School. She is a member of the Kent County Retired School Personnel Association; and treasurer and member of the Administrative Council for New Christian Chapel of Love in Worton.

Mrs. Shorter earned a bachelor’s degree in English from Elizabeth City State University in North Carolina. In addition, she earned credits toward a master’s degree in English Literature at Washington College and at the University of Delaware.  She resides in Chestertown with her husband, Bruce, and children, Tyra and Landon.
