High School Grads

First things first, congratulations! We know this may not be the senior year you'd hoped for and chances are, you're facing challenges that may make your plans for the future a little less clear.

Whether you're thinking about transferring to a four-year school when things go back to "the new normal," or if you've decided to stay closer to home to earn your degree (while saving money), we want you to know we're here to help get you there—wherever "there" may be.

Here's how to get started at Chesapeake this Spring:

  1. Browse our Spring Courses: Search in our system for our current offerings. Most classes are being offered online only, with limited face-to-face lab instruction for our Health Sciences. As we move into the Spring semester, additional face-to-face offerings may become available. More details are available in the course descriptions at the link above.

  2. Apply Online: Completing our online application is always the first step. Once your application has been submitted, you'll receive an email confirmation with additional details (check in your SPAM folder if you don't see it in your inbox).

  3. Talk to Admissions: Our admissions department can help determine if you need to schedule placement testing, and explain how to submit your high school transcript to the Chesapeake College Registrar.

  4. Register for Courses: Once you're enrolled, contact an Advisor to register for the courses of your choice.

  5. Explore Financial Aid & Scholarships: If you haven’t done so already, please apply for FAFSA. Chesapeake College also has an institutional scholarship you can apply for here: Scholarship Application. Reach out to our Financial Aid office with any questions you may have.

  6. Pay Tuition & Fees: Pay either at the time of registration, or by the due date on your bill. Deferred tuition payment plans are available to students whose bills exceed $100. Learn More.

  7. Get Ready to Learn: Check your tech, and make sure you have access to a reliable internet connection. Get your textbooks through the bookstore website www.chesapeake.bncollege.com. Check out our student resource page for some tips related to online instruction at Chesapeake.

Complete an application online, then reach out to our Admissions Office, an Academic Advisor or our Financial Aid Office with any questions you may have. We're here and ready to help you find your path forward.

Continuing Education: Noncredit Courses for Working Adults

The COVID-19 pandemic, and its restrictions, may have made it difficult for you to continue working. You may be concerned about the current recession, and uncertain about your employment future. Financial strains can make college seem out of reach right now.

We can help! Explore our Continuing Education courses online—from CNA to CDLs, HVAC to Veterinary Tech. Classes are starting soon, and with more funding sources than ever to help you cover the costs.

We can help you map out a plan for your future, and help you find the career that's right for you, right now. For our Continuing Education courses, you can register online immediately, without having to complete an application. Explore our offerings today to get started!

For more information about our current offerings, you can contact CEHealthcare@chesapeake.edu or SkilledTrades@chesapeake.edu.

Reach out to our helpful partners at WIB to see what funds you qualify for. We're here for you and happy to help you in any way that we can.

Current College Students

With many four-year institutions sending their students home early this spring, you may have found yourself unexpectedly displaced and wondering how you can make the most of your time on the shore, while still preparing for your future, saving some money, and remaining "socially distanced." If so, we're here to help. Chesapeake College welcomes visiting students as an active part of our community. You're considered a "visiting student" if you are currently enrolled at another college or university and wish to attend Chesapeake on a temporary basis, like only for the Spring 2021 semester. The credits you earn can transfer back to your home institution, and count toward your degree.

If you are a resident of Caroline, Dorchester, Kent, Queen Anne's, or Talbot counties, you may take courses here at a fraction of the cost of your four-year school.

Enrolling as a visiting student is easy:

  1. Browse our Spring Courses: Search in our system for our current offerings. Most classes are being offered online only, with limited face-to-face lab instruction for our Health Sciences. As we move into the Spring semester, additional face-to-face offerings may become available. More details are available in the course descriptions at the link above.

  2. Apply Online: When filling out your application, select "Visiting Student" as your Admissions Status.

  3. Request a Visiting Student Letter: After you submit your application, ask your home college to provide a Visiting Student Letter granting you permission to enroll in a specific course or courses at Chesapeake College. This letter exempts you from the Accuplacer test for the semester in which you are applying and allows you to register for classes.

  4. Contact an Admissions Officer: Reach out to an Academic Advisor or Admissions Officer for detailed registration procedures for visiting students, and to submit your Visiting Student Letter.

  5. Pay Tuition & Fees: Once you register for classes, make sure you pay tuition and fees by the semester payment deadline date to avoid being dropped.

  4. Work with our Admissions Office if you have questions regarding the Dual Enrollment Grant opportunities.

  5. Get ready to learn: Check your tech, and make sure you have access to a reliable internet connection. Get your textbooks through the bookstore website www.chesapeake.bncollege.com. Check out our student resource page for some tips related to online instruction at Chesapeake.
