Rebecca Jones of Chester was one of only six students in Maryland to receive a national 2016 Coca Cola Leaders of Promise Scholarship for Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society Members.

Coca-Cola Leaders of Promise Scholars are selected based on outstanding academic achievement and demonstrated leadership potential.

Chesapeake, RISE Partnership Provides Job Training

Chesapeake College this year teamed up with area departments of social services and corrections to prepare 100 citizens for employment. By helping train people for the local workforce, these partnerships are boosting the economic health of individuals, families and communities.

Baer Earns National Recognition

Chesapeake College Director of Academic Support Melina Baer was recently selected for the Top 40 Women under 40 by the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC).

Baer was honored at the AACC Annual Conference in Chicago with the 40 under 40 award. Awarded to 40 “up-and-coming” women who are also under the age of 40, the designation recognizes work in community colleges across the country. The honorees demonstrate high potential for success in leadership roles and a strong commitment to the mission of community colleges.
