Sometimes the first step on the road to earning an A.A. (or Associates) degree turns into a life-long love affair with learning. Such is the case with alumna Angel Greene who attended Chesapeake from 2003 to 2006.

After earning an associate’s degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences, Greene transferred to Salisbury University, where she majored in Conflict Analysis and Dispute Resolution. She soon ventured to the University of Maryland Eastern Shore to pursue a master’s in Special Education. With M.Ed. in hand – her third degree in six years – Angel returned to school in August 2015 to pursue the highest of academic degrees, a doctorate.

Today, this proud mother of a lovely young lady, oldest of three sisters, and self-professed ‘grandmomma’s girl’ is back at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore working on her doctorate in Educational Leadership. She credits her grandmother, Jane Greene’s unwavering support for her success. Angel is a Special Education Teacher at Federalsburg Elementary School. When not in the library or studying, Angel enjoys spending time with family and friends and traveling.

Q:                    Do you have a standout memory from your time at Chesapeake?

A:                    By far, the most memorable moment for me had to be the hypnosis event that I attended for a Psychology class. It was the coolest, scariest thing ever!

Q:                    Did you have a favorite instructor?

A:                    The late Mr. George Wilson, Jr. was my favorite instructor. He was so full of knowledge and wisdom and was so eager to share it with his students. I especially loved how he challenged students to look closely at both sides of a situation before making a decision.

Q:                    What advice would you give your 20 year-old self?

A:                    The career advice I would give to my 20-year old is “No matter what your job is, do it to the best of your ability.”

Q:                    Do you have a favorite app or device you rely on?

A:                    I’m not much of a techie but I will say that the technology and resources Chesapeake had when I was a student were the latest available and very up-to-date, which made completing assignments a breeze.

Q:                    Because of my time at Chesapeake …

A:                    I am the person that I am today – established, well rounded, educated, and happy. Chesapeake provided me with a strong academic foundation that I have been continually building upon.
