Richard S. Peterson CFE
Richard Peterson is the Executive Director of the Todd Performing Arts Center (TPAC) at Chesapeake College, Wye Mills, MD. He came to Maryland in 1996 to open and establish the TPAC as a regional performing arts center that provides an element of the visual and performing arts for everyone. TPAC is the sixth public assembly, (performing arts center, convention center, arena,) facility he has opened as a new construction or renovation project during his career.
As an actor and stage Director he has appeared in over 30 plays holding the lead role or character roles. As a Director he has directed for many community theatre companies, summer stock and industrial events in New York State. In Maryland he has directed, written and produced the annual Sleigh Ride Around the World Shows and two editions of the Habitat for Humanity’s Follies. As a lighting designer he has designed for many professional dance companies, touring musicals, and stage shows. He has contributed or initiated the scenic design and lighting designs for almost all Drama Productions at Chesapeake College since his arrival and all TPAC events.
Richard is a member of International Association of Venue Managers (IAVM) - In 2005 he earned his CFE (Certified Facilities Executive) certification from IAAM. He is also a professional member of USITT (United States Institute of Theatre Design and Technology) . He holds a Bachelor of Music (applied) from Yankton College Conservatory of Music and his Masters in Acting and Directing from Syracuse University. He is a member of IATSE Local 289-(International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees)
