What is Upward Bound?
Upward Bound is a new and exciting college readiness opportunity for high school students in Kent County, Caroline County, and at Easton High School interested in higher education. The goal of Chesapeake College’s Upward Bound program is to increase the rate of participants’ completion of high school and graduation from a college or university.

Who is eligible?
- Economically disadvantaged by Federal Trio Guidelines
- First-generation students
Students who demonstrate the need for academic support in order to achieve college-readiness due to limited English proficiency, students from groups that are traditionally underrepresented in postsecondary education, students who are homeless children and youths, students who are in foster care or are aging out of foster care system, or other disconnected students.
Eligible students must be 8th grade students who will be entering the 9th grade in the next fall, 9th grade & 10th grade students, and 11th grade students in their 1st semester who meet one of the above criteria attending high schools in Maryland's Caroline County, Kent County, and Easton High School.
How do I apply?
Students and parents must complete an application process, and be willing to commit to the time and effort required to complete a rigorous program for the student to achieve high school success and matriculate to a college or university. Click on the application link below, fill out the application, print and sign, and return to your school counselor or an Upward Bound staff member. Applications are also available from your high school counselor.
