2024 TRiO Upward Bound graduates
Chesapeake College recently honored the 32 TRiO Upward Bound seniors who are graduating from area high schools this year.
“In the second year of our program, more than 30 seniors will be graduating and moving on to postsecondary education, straight into their career field, or the Armed Forces, said Director of TRiO Upward Bound Mark Berry. “We hope that the encouragement and advice sustain them as they move forward. The Upward Bound program wishes them the best of luck in their future endeavors.”
For more than 50 years, Upward Bound has been preparing students in -need for college and success after graduation. Students in the program get guidance and resources from 9th grade through college. Founded in 1965, it was the first federally funded program to help low-income and first-generation students succeed in higher education and attain middle class status.
The 2024 Upward Bound graduates are:
From Colonel Richardson High School: Christopher Bodman, Gary Fervy, Joseph Foster, Skye Hendrix, Jubeana Laurent, Mickenson Monestime, Camren Rochester, Nicholas Rust, Gray Wheatley, Jatiera Williams.
From Easton High School: Scarlett Bishop, Kristian Cherry, Angel Fernandez-Perez, Maddison Gay, Evelyn Giron- Hipolito, Ka’Niya Joseph, Nai’ema Pierce, Jair Ramirez-Martinez, Daniela Vasquez-Ramirez.
From Kent County High School: Liam Gallo, Bre’Asia Jackson, Brayden Walters.
From North Caroline High School: Allison Borucke, Vasti Carreto-Gomez, Alex Delacruz Martinez, Aireonna Duckery, Chelsea Foehrenbach, Taniya Hicks, Kadon Lewis, Malayah “Precious” Phillips, Kamryn Tucker, Helen Velasquez DeLeon.
