Chesapeake College Hosts Book Talk with Barbara Viniar, Author of ‘Little Bird’
WYE MILLS – Author Barbara Viniar will discuss her compelling new book on Tuesday, April 14 at 1 pm in the Cadby Theatre at Chesapeake College.
Dr. Viniar will read from her Sibylline Press publication “Little Bird,” a novel about a courageous Russian immigrant to the United States in the early 20th century.
To help her family escape the escalating violence against the Jews in Russia, main character “Feige” is betrothed to a wealthy American in 1910. She reluctantly becomes “Fannie,” an obedient wife. Her husband’s cruelty later pushes her to take a daring step toward freedom.
Armed with her embroidery skills and a fierce will, she builds a life on her own terms. Confronting betrayal, defying societal expectations, and ultimately deciding whether to sacrifice her hard-won independence for a new love. This stirring novel explores immigration, family conflicts, loss and happiness in the New World.
This event is free and open to the public. For more information, please contact the Chesapeake College library at [email protected].
